Where Does Your Old Sofa Actually Go?

Every item we collect goes through a simple but strict triage on the truck: can it be donated, can it be recycled, or does it need to be disposed of at a licensed facility?

Donation is always the first option for furniture in usable condition. We work with local charities and second-hand networks who place items with families, hostels and community groups across Singapore.

  • Sofas in clean, structurally sound condition.
  • Single and queen mattresses less than 3 years old.
  • Working appliances with original power cables.
  • Office chairs with no torn upholstery.

Triage at the warehouse — donate, recycle, dispose.

Items that are damaged but contain valuable materials — metal frames, glass tabletops, working motors — are routed to specialist recyclers. This keeps usable raw material in circulation and out of Semakau Landfill.

Singapore landfills less than 40% of its solid waste — but bulky furniture is a stubborn category. A little extra triage at pickup makes a real difference.

Only what cannot be donated or recycled is sent for proper disposal. Even then, we choose facilities that handle waste in line with NEA's environmental standards. The goal is simple: clear your space without adding unnecessary load to Singapore's waste system.
